Chloe was used to being the new girl—her family moved around a lot—but something about Dallas felt different. It was junior year, and while starting over again was exhausting, this move would change everything.
Gentry had just moved back from boarding school in New York. He was settling back into life in Preston Hollow and decided to throw a party to kick off the school year.
On a humid summer night, Chloe and her friends decided to check it out. They’d heard about Gentry and figured it’d be a fun way to meet new people. A mutual friend introduced them—they had seen each other online but never met.
Gentry, busy hosting, barely looked up. “Nice to meet you,” he said before disappearing into the crowd. Chloe didn’t think much of it. But over the next few weeks, they kept running into each other. Eventually, they started talking—turns out, they had a lot in common (including a love for English Bulldogs).
Hanging out quickly became easy and fun. One weekend, Gentry asked Chloe to go look at puppies, and they ended up at Shake Shack after. It felt like a date, but there was no kiss, just a hug. Weeks went by. Still, no move from Gentry. So one night, Chloe kissed him first. Gentry laughed and said, “I was going to do that eventually.” From then on, they were inseparable.
Nearly six years later, they’re still each other’s favorite person. El Come Taco dates, weekends at Gentry’s family ranch, and road trips to San Diego—it’s the life they’ve built together.
For Chloe’s 23rd birthday, she planned a trip to Palm Springs—a place full of childhood memories. She flew out early for a girls’ trip with Reilly and Meghan, then Gentry joined her. What she didn’t know: he’d already talked to her parents and was planning to propose.
On January 23rd, at the Parker Palm Springs, Gentry surprised her with a picnic overlooking the mountains. He got down on one knee—and she said yes!
That night, as the sun set over the desert, they toasted to everything they’d been through and everything still to come. Palm Springs had always been special to Chloe—but now it held her favorite memory of all.
